Candace Owens recently revisited the period surrounding her suspension and eventual firing from The Daily Wire on Myron Gaines’ livestream, uploaded to YouTube on November 18, 2025. During the conversation, she reflected on how the controversy unfolded and how overwhelming the experience felt at the time.
Owens began by describing the situation as sudden and consuming, explaining that she had never faced anything comparable in her professional life. She said the moment felt chaotic and unfamiliar, likening the intensity of it to “trench warfare.”
“So… for me, having never had any sort of a trouble ever in my life um in terms of working for people. It was new. It was global. There was so much happening and I didn’t know if we were going to survive it. Genuinely, my husband and I, it felt like you are just, it’s like trench warfare,” she said.
Owens joined The Daily Wire in 2021 and quickly became one of the conservative media outlet’s most recognizable personalities. However, she was fired in 2024 following a series of alleged antisemitic comments and mounting internal conflicts with the company.
She said the firing felt deeply unexpected. Even when she sensed tension behind the scenes, she explained that she never imagined her exit would unfold so abruptly or dramatically.
“I obviously was very surprised about it. I did not know it was coming. Even if I sensed it was coming, I would have never have thought that it would have happened in the way that it happened,” she said.
Reflecting on her departure more broadly, Owens emphasized her belief that professional relationships should end on civil, respectful terms.
She said she expected both sides to “do everything that we can to keep things friendly,” and noted that it felt “unprofessional” for a workplace relationship to deteriorate so sharply. After dedicating “years of your life to any company,” she added, the goal should be to keep things as “peaceful as possible,” even when disagreements arise.
Yet in her case, Owens said the end of her time at The Daily Wire was abrupt and emotionally taxing. She explained that during that period, she felt she was simply moving through each day on instinct, trying to cope with the pressure and public scrutiny.
“You’re (making) every move, you’re not even thinking about the implications. It’s like I just have to put one foot in front of the other and fight fight fight,” she said.
Candace Owens addresses claims related to The Daily Wire exit during interview with Myron Gaines
During the episode mentioned above, Candace Owens spoke in detail about her split from The Daily Wire, responding to questions about alleged internal tensions and leaked information surrounding her departure.
Myron Gaines, the host, raised a claim that reportedly circulated after Owens left the company. He referenced a TMZ report alleging that Owens’ comments about Jewish people had reportedly angered Daily Wire co-founder Ben Shapiro.
“TMZ reported…They reported that… one of the reasons why they wanted to get rid of you is because you did the show with us, and when we talked about Jews…and that I guess that infuriated Ben Shapiro. Is that true?” he asked.
Owens responded by suggesting she knew the alleged source of a leak connected to her firing, implying it came from someone who no longer worked at The Daily Wire.
“I know that I know where that leak came from….Am I allowed to say anything about this? She no longer works for the Daily Wire and I think she was behind that leak,” Candace Owens said.
Candace Owens then reflected on a PR narrative she found unexpected, saying she could neither confirm nor deny the accuracy of the rumor but believed the public framing around her departure from The Daily Wire felt unlike her own approach.
“So, that was interesting. I can neither confirm or deny whether or not that is true…but what I will say is I would have never expected that sort of a PR. I mean, it was just it’s just the opposite of the way that I am,” Candace Owens added.
Candace Owens further contrasted her experience at The Daily Wire with her earlier professional relationships.
She explained that she once worked at PragerU and, despite now having “a lot of disagreements,” she emphasized that their working relationship had been peaceful. She further added how the company “treated me fantastically” and called them “really good employers.”
She also highlighted how smooth and uncomplicated the organization had been to work with, recalling that her PragerU contract was “like two pages,” which she described as “crazy,” underscoring how stress-free and straightforward the arrangement felt at the time.
Owens similarly noted that she “had a very great relationship with Charlie Kirk” and with Turning Point USA, again drawing a sharp contrast with the tensions she implied at The Daily Wire.
Speaking about the period immediately following her dismissal from The Daily Wire, Owens explained that she felt overwhelming gratitude, first toward God, and then toward her husband.
She referenced how her husband was “rock solid” and how even a “fraction of apprehension” from him could have caused her to “come apart.” However, she emphasized that his emotional stability gave her support during that difficult moment.
Candace Owens is currently hosting a podcast on YouTube, titled “Candace,” where she discusses the latest political developments and current affairs.
