AEW star Buddy Matthews recently shared an update on his injury. The star has been missing from weekly programming for months after an ankle injury.

Matthews injured his ankle at AEW Grand Slam earlier this year. He sustained the injury while making his entrance. However, the star showed grit and finished his match against Kazuchika Okada. Buddy later discovered that he had rolled his ankle and had a partial ligament tear with cartilage damage. He underwent surgery in August and has been out of action for months.

During a Q&A session on Instagram, the wrestling star shared the struggles on his road to recovery. He mentioned that it was a slow and long process. Buddy detailed that he was still nursing some nerve issues and numbness. The Australian star admitted that it would be a while before he could make a comeback to the ring. Matthews mentioned that he couldn’t control the timelines but was staying positive.

“It’s been a long process! Still having nerve issues with a lot of numbness! But accepted that it’s gonna take time. Really thought I’d have returned to the ring by now but can only control what I can,” he wrote.
