Scheduled for release on January 9, 2026, Greenland 2: Migration is a sequel to the 2020 survival hit Greenland. Directed by Ric Roman Waugh, the story continues to follow the Garrity family as they struggle to survive in a world that has been completely changed by a comet.

Greenland 2: Migration main cast features Gerard Butler returning as John Garrity and Morena Baccarin as his wife, Allison. The plot is set five years after the events of the first film and focuses on their dangerous journey across the ruins of Europe.

They are searching for a new place to live, but the world outside the bunker is filled with new threats, including extreme weather and other desperate survivors. It is no longer just about surviving the end of the world, it is about finding a way to live in what is left of it.

The film’s supporting cast includes Amber Rose Revah, Gordon Alexander, Peter Polycarpou, William Abadie, and Tommie Earl Jenkins, among other actors.

Gerard Butler and Morena Baccarin to lead Ric Roman Waugh’s Greenland 2: Migration

Gerard Butler portrays John Garrity in Greenland 2: Migration. In the first film, John was a protective father who used his skills as an engineer to get his family to safety before a comet hit. In the upcoming part, he must lead them out of the bunker and across a frozen, ruined world to find a permanent home.

Butler is famous for his role as King Leonidas in 300. Recently, he starred in the 2025 action hit Kandahar 2 and provided the voice for Stoick in the live-action film How to Train Your Dragon. Besides this project, he is also set to star in Jamie Foxx’s sports comedy film, All-Star Weekend.

Actress Morena Baccarin plays John’s wife, Allison Garrity, in the sequel film. In the first film, Allison was a brave mother who did everything possible to keep her diabetic son safe during the chaos. In Migration, she is no longer just running from danger; she has become a hardened survivor who helps her family navigate the frozen, lawless wasteland outside the bunker.

Morena Baccarin is globally known for her role as Vanessa in the Deadpool film series and as Inara Serra in the cult classic Firefly. She is also set to star in Ángel Manuel Soto’s buddy cop action comedy film The Wrecking Crew and Travis Knight’s Masters of the Universe.
